Low North Camp

Low North Park is located in an isolated valley to the north of Scarborough near the village of Harwood Dale. It is wholly owned by the club and is the venue for all SDMC events. The park is available for trials practise (for practise pass holding club members) all year round except when an event is being held.

If you have GPS, the coordinates for the gate are 54.34375° North, 0.54402° West. To get driving directions, use Bing Maps or Google Maps (map is centered on the entrance gate).

POSTCODE YO13 0LA

If you're competing in an event, follow the road past the lower car park, over the bridge, up the hill and past the old motocross track on your left to the paddock. Administration (signing on and scrutineering), the cafe and toilet block are opposite the paddock entrance (see map). If practicing, you may park in either the lower car park, paddock or in one of the several lay-bys alongside the road. Please do not park on the grass - not only are you likely to get stuck but many of the verges are lined with large concrete "tank traps" (a legacy of the park's previous MOD owners), many of which are concealed by the undergrowth.

PLEASE NOTE:

SDMC CLUB MEMBERSHIP NOTES AND CLUB RULES

ALL APPLICANTS MUST READ THE SUMMARY OF RULES FOR THE USE OF LOW NORTH PARK SET OUT BELOW AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM. INFRINGEMENTS WILL LEAD TO ACTION, UP TO AND INCLUDING WITHDRAWAL OF MEMBERSHIP

TRIALS PRACTICE. Only Trials bikes with riders holding a current pass are allowed to use the Camp. Passes MUST be always displayed prominently on the bike. It is also advisable to carry membership cards. Random checks will be made and riders without passes will be reported to the committee. Minors must be supervised by an adult member. Members assisting non-members to practice at Low North Park may have their membership terminated.

NO PRACTICE ON THE DAY OF EVENT. The Permit issued by the ACU for an event is an insurance policy which can be invalidated by the presence of riders who are not signed on as competitors or officials.

NOTE - If riding in an event, then there is also no practicing on the day before the event. The Camp may be closed on certain days prior to events to enable the safe setting up of the events and on other days when alternative motor sport is being held. Closures will be notified on the SDMC website News page.

THE BOUNDARIES OF LOW NORTH PARK. The boundaries of the club's land are the river on your left and the fence on the right as you enter the main gate; they eventually meet at the far end of the park in the moor. You must not cross these boundaries. We have an agreement to use some of the land over the river for some events, but not at any other time. We are being watched.

SPEED LIMIT ON THE ROADS OF THE PARK. The limit applies to all vehicles including cars and trials bikes. We have a lot of children riding at the park. They will come out of side roads, car parks, even bushes without warning. They will also keep near the road when it is too muddy for them elsewhere. NOBODY WANTS AN ACCIDENT. Please always keep your speed right down and watch-out for little ones.

ENTRY TO THE SITE MUST ONLY BE MADE THROUGH THE MAIN GATE. If you let someone else in with your key, it is your responsibility to get them back out again. You may arrive at the gate to find someone waiting to get in. They might be members without a key, or they may be waiting for a friend with a key. If you let them in and you must leave for some reason, you could spend hours looking for them. It is a big site to find somebody. They may have gone already. It is best to not let them anyone in at all.

LITTER. We have no facilities on site for the disposal of rubbish. If you bring it, then please take it home.

CAMPING, FIRES and BBQ’s. No Camping. No open fires are permitted due to fire risk. BBQ’s may be used on hardstanding only. Ensure all rubbish is taken home. Leave the Camp as you would wish to find it.

DAMAGE TO CLUB PROPERTY. If you see anybody causing damage to the Site. Please take note of who it is doing this. Take note of Bike Pass or vehicle numbers and report them to the committee. Action will be taken with a report to the police when appropriate. Damage to club property costs all of us as repairs and replacements must be paid for from club funds.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION NOTES. New Members applying for their membership must attend a committee meeting held monthly on the first Wednesday of each month. Location and details are on the SDMC website. Applicants will be informed whether their application has been accepted at the meeting. A login will be given to the new Member to the online booking system for them to enter their details and make payment. Keys and passes will then be sent out within 7 working days of payment confirmation.

Please note: Applications may be refused without the Club giving the reason for refusal.
